It is very true: “we get what we say.” There is power in our words. Words for good or words for hurt.

We not only hear with our external ears but uniquely hear with an inner ear.  The part of the brain that is connected to the inner ear and mouth hears what we say and sends it to every nerve in the body.  It cannot differentiate between good or bad words. The brain hears our voice and believes what we say is what we want; therefore it starts telling your body to do what you say.  Oh my!  Trouble is coming when we do not stop and think about what we think and what we say.

Scripture tells us that death and life is in the power of the tongue and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Proverbs 18:21).  We are justified or condemned by our words (from Matthew 12:737).   Out of the same mouth can come blessings or cursings...and these things ought not to be! We are warned about what we should speak (from James 3:10).  You are snared with the words of your lips, you are taken with the speech of your mouth (from Proverbs 6:2). Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. (from Matthew 15:18).

Right words can build and strengthen one’s own soul and bring blessings to others.  Godly words can bring impossibilities into miracles. Hurtful words are like a spark that starts a flaming forest fire that brings destruction to our inner being and can hurt another, even to scaring their soul.

People without Jesus can have persuasive, articulate and charming speech. Words from their mouth can be controlling.   Those words can be an influence for good or evil. Yes, speech can be controlled.  However, the heart will eventually betray the words of the mouth. Self-will and emotions rule and words will reflect the heart of one who lives by their own pride.  One can deceive themselves in their words and thoughts but at the end of the day and the darkness of night, peace will allude whoever does not know Jesus in a personal way.  The thoughts and words have defined that person.

However, to the born-again believer, there is a powerful ability to change the course of their life. By inputing the Word of God into the heart through speaking aloud, the powerful, faith-filled words of God will produce wonderful and super-natural change.   God spoke everything into existence by the Word of His mouth.   We can bring promises into existence by speaking and confessing the Word aloud with faith.  It goes down into our heart and comes back with blessing and results.  The Holy Spirit within (the believer) uses the Scripture we have implanted into us.

The Christian heart is like wonderful soil.  The seed we should plant into that good soil should be Scripture.  As water and sunshine is necessary to produce a natural harvest, so is thanksgiving and praise to our Lord into the soil of our heart.  The brain hears the spoken Word and the body acts upon it. Our Lord hears our confession of faith and “hastens over it” to bring the promise.   The Scripture of Life carries its own faith, creativity and power.  When you speak it aloud, believing and receiving what God says, our words will come to pass. It is a law.  You will have what you say! Therefore, it is very important that we are to guard our heart, mouth and lips.

“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” (Romans 10:17)

God cannot lie. His Words never return void and all of His promises are “yes and amen.”  Jesus gave us everything that pertains to life and godliness and that comes through the knowledge of God.   Every need and challenge of life has already been taken care of on the cross of Calvary because of Jesus’s love and sacrifice for us.  Salvation (The Greek word for saved means “sozo”) guarantees we are saved, healed, delivered, preserved and made whole!  Jesus promises that He will never withhold any good thing to His children.  However, Promises are NOT automatic.  They require obedience to His Word, with faith, on our part.  We must put His Word in us for the knowledge to set us free.

Believe the promises of the Bible, then you shall have what you speak.  Faith is an action word. It comes with hope for change in the future. Promises are always in accord with God’s word.  What we see in the present it is not faith.

It was through belief and confession that we received salvation. It is the same principle to receive God’s promises.

Christians are meant to live in love, joy, peace, victory and an abundant life. It is the hallmark of our life. Remember, the Spirit of the Living God lives within us to bring it to pass.

My friend, have you been “born again” and set free? Jesus Christ loves you with a wonderful unconditional love and He is the only one who can save us from our sin and give us over-coming life.  Believe in Him and confess your sin today. You will be changed and blessed.

With blessings,

Ephesians 3:20
