My first remembrance of Spam was as a child. My mom would buy it and it came in a small rectangle shaped can. She would slice and fry it, dice it and put with potatoes and even grind it up and make spam sandwiches and spam burgers out it. It was not my favorite food. However, I think I did likewise with my children when they were young because it was “cheap meat.” The modern day vegetarian would most certainly gag on reading the ingredients.
Now the word Spam has taken on an entirely new meaning. Perhaps equally as offensive! We do not want to find it on our computers or smart phones. According to Wikipedia we learn: “Spam is the use of electronic messaging systems (including most broadcast media, digital delivery systems) to send unsolicited bulk messages indiscriminately. While the most widely recognized form of spam is e-mail spam, the term is applied to similar abuses in other media: instant messaging spam, Usenet newsgroup spam, Web search engine spam, spam in blogs, wiki spam, online classified ads spam, mobile phone messaging spam, Internet forum spam, junk fax transmissions, social networking spam, television advertising and file sharing network spam.”
The article also tells us spammers and spamming cost the public and internet service providers 7 trillion dollars. A deceptive, unwanted and big business!
I reminds me of another “spammer.” I want us to take another look at the word Spam, only time as an acrostic:
S - Satan’s
P - Plot
A - Against our
M - Mind
If we would stop and “think about what we are thinking,” it could be the beginning of a transformed mind-set in the positive. A word is a “thought capsule.” Thoughts are the framers of our emotions, habits, emotions, actions from our minds.
We are what we think and we choose to be what we are.
This is a powerful statement but the Truth. We never put our minds in neutral, the mind is always thinking.
Some try to blame their present situation on bad parenting, ignorance, trauma, difficult circumstances or past, relationship gone bad and numerous other scenarios, but it all comes back to what we choose to be.
We have to understand the original “spammer” - Satan with his host of demons. He and his fellow evil cohorts use the avenue of the mind to infiltrate his diabolical thoughts into our minds and so many unknowing humans accept these thoughts as their own. They are unaware of the mighty Word of God that declares he (satan) comes as a thief to kill, steal and destroy and as a roaring lion, who is always and forever seeking whomever he can devour. (John 10:10 and I Peter 5:7)
Yes, you can use you will power to make some changes, but you will never be a match against should a formidable foe who is the enemy of mankind. You simply cannot change yourself and who you are on your own!
Here is the Good News! The enemy has been permanently defeated.
There is only one who change the heart of man. His name is Jesus and by His precious blood and the stripes He took for you and me, we can become a new person - a new creation. It comes when we call upon the precious Savior and ask Him to forgive us of our sins and come into our soul and become Lord of our Life.
The Lord gave us all the tools for transformation of the mind: His Spirit to live within us and the Power of the Bible, which is Light and Life, to those who seek Him.
There must be a surrender and obedience to God’s will and plan. We will only learn that as we are daily in the Word which guides and directs our thinking. This is the way to life and peace.
GOD SAYS WHAT HE MEANS AND MEANS WHAT HE SAYS. His Word is not an option or suggestion to the child of God. The Lord’s word to us is to receive and do. We are to activate our faith and believe that His promises are true and we can trust Him to keep His Word when we ask in faith believing.
...For as he (a man) thinketh in his heart, so is he: Proverbs 23:7
This should get our attention! O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. Matthew 12:34-36
I usually write out Scriptures for you, but this time I am listing them and you can do the searching for yourself:
Key Verse: John 6:63 and reading through Romans 8.
Romans 1:28-2:1 (actually entire chapter)
There is yet more, but this is a good start.
Herein is the formula for right thinking and the avenue of peace and joy. This is not optional, it is The Lord’s command:
1) (Surrender of self-will) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2) (Not conformed to world’s standards) And be not conformed to this world: 3) ( Our mind is renewed by Scriptures) but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1-2
May the Lord richly bless you.
