I am in front of my computer on this 4th of July. My husband went home to be with the Lord on June 25th. We celebrated his life on June 29th. He was laid to rest at the Dallas-Ft.Worth National Cemetery with full military honors as a 20 year veteran of the United States Air Force.
I want to give tribute to my husband of 53 years whom I will greatly miss; a salute to my country, the United States of America; and honor to my God, the magnificent Three-in-One: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.
What an awesome sight it was to drive through the national cemetery and see the markers of thousands upon thousands of veterans. This cemetery is a beautiful and hallowed place. Personally, I owe so much to the military. In honor of my country, the American flag is flown daily at my home.
As a 75 year old senior, I have watched moral deterioration and lack of integrity in leadership in our great nation. Our word is “no longer our bond.” I thank God for the patriotism of a great number of our citizens; yet patriotism is also on the decline. We live in the greatest land on the face of the earth; opening our arms to multiplied thousands who come into our country. I ask myself these questions, “How grateful are we?” “Lord, what else can I do?”
I would appeal to all those reading this word, to permanently display our precious flag daily and encourage others to do so. Yes, we need to stand up and ask ourselves: “What can I personally do for my country in the days ahead?” Let us bind together in prayer for our leadership and a godly destiny in this land of ours. We need to pray for protection against our enemies.
As Christians in America, we have dual citizenship: We belong to America and we have a greater citizenship in the Kingdom of God with a secured place in Heaven. With that privilege comes a mandate that should not be ignored:
If my people, which are called by my name,
Shall humble themselves, and pray,
And seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways;
Then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
Now mine eyes shall be open,
And mine ears attend unto the prayer that is made in this place.
2 Chronicles 7:14-15
“Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD: and the people whom he hath chosen for his own inheritance. Psalms 33:12.”
In closing, I honor my Savior, Jesus Christ, for all that He is and all that He has done for me.
Thank you for all of your prayers and concern for me during this time. I can tell you with all my heart, I have a peace within that passes all understanding that can only come from my Lord.
